How well does it match the curriculum?

Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected

Lessons cover the national curriculum for each subject area, there are challenge questions in every lesson to extend children and there are additional challenge questions for each unit

How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?

Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented

The images of children used in the context of the questions cover a range of ethnicities as well as showing different disabilities - children in wheelchairs/wearing hearing aids

How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?

Reasonably: Not enough to support children who aren't able to access the lesson, particularly when you have children working at a different year group level - see above

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

The structure/format of the lessons remain consistent so the children always know what to expect

How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?

Brilliantly: We could (or do) use it for monitoring pupils or classes, for gap analysis or to inform intervention strategies

There is an assessment for the end of each individual unit which is used to inform future learning/intervention that may need to be done.

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

No additional planning is needed as it comes with a handy teacher guide that you can pick up and use

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Badly: It’s not really suitable for home use or independent learning

Definitely not suitable for home use! Could be used for independent learning by children who are able mathematicians or capable readers but would be a struggle for other pupils

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen.

We used to use Maths no Problem and this comes in significantly cheaper than them with better online resources available.
