Getting the resources from the company was by a very poor delivery service. Often damaged and had to be reordered. The actual word cards took so long to cut out and organise and then not all the resources you need for a lesson are in the right place. A frustrating resource.
How well does it match the curriculum?
Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected
The curriculum coverage is there but you may need to look further.
How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?
Badly: There is very little representation of minorities or too much stereotyping etc. None shown really so far.
How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?
Badly: There isn’t enough range or some the age-related expectations are misaligned
The expectation is all the children do the same lesson and then interventions are needed for those children not accessing the main lesson later in the day.
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Badly: Pupils don’t really enjoy using it
Same format each day. It seems to have lost the fun element of phonics and interactivity.
How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?
Reasonably: There is some formative assessment included, but its usefulness is a bit limited
Assessments are ok.
How well does it support planning?
Reasonably: Mostly we can use it without an unreasonable amount of effort or additional resource requirement
Ensuring you have the correct word cards have proven to be time consuming.
How well does it support home use / independent learning?
Badly: It’s not really suitable for home use or independent learning
Not had to use it for home learning but it seems to be very much practitioner led.
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Reasonably: It represents about the same value for money as similar resources I’ve seen.
It’s value is ok. Although the time it took to cut up the resources and organise was horrendous.
