Review rating:

As the children enjoy using Busy Things, there is a high engagement level from all the children.

How well does it match the curriculum?

Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected

There are a lot of resources for different areas of the curriculum and new content is being added all the time.

How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?

Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented

A lot of the content is character based, that all children can associate with. There are a range of activities celebrating different cultures.

How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?

Brilliantly: There is a wide enough range of resources to provide a good range of options for all pupils

Many activities are differentiated. In writing activities there are differentiated templates that can be used by all abilities. The 'My Family' activity has templates with between 2 - 8 boxes where children can write and draw about a family member. Teachers are able to differentiate maths and phonics activities.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

The children love the range of activities available.

How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?

Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful

There are no formative assessments available.

How well does it support planning?

Well: It’s fairly self-contained and can be used with minimal preparation

Little time is need for preparation, most of the activities have activity information and discussion points.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

Children are able to use the resources at home, little preparation is needed.

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Brilliantly: It’s possibly the best value for money of any similar resources I’ve seen

We have been using this resource for many years. It is used extensively in Reception and KS1. Compared to other similar resources it is good value for money.
