How well does it match the curriculum?

Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected

We absolutely love this as a school. The writing units linked to books are great and as a school we have attended a few training courses which have always been really useful.

How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?

Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented

The well-being units of work are lovely and the books selected cover a broad range of units

How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?

Reasonably: The extension and challenge is always something that I feel needs to be pushed further for those GD writers. As a year 6 teacher it can be tricky to not scaffold too much to!

Differentiation sometimes isn’t clear

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so

If pupils love the  book then it’s great! If they are not hooked by it then it can be tricky to keep them engaged when you may be using that same book for multiple lessons

How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?

Well: We could (or do) use it for monitoring individual pupil progress

It’s good and the writing we get out of it can be used against our own assessment grids

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

It is clear to follow and can be adapted easily

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Reasonably: It could be used at home or independently, but pupils would need some extra support or resources

Book copies are needed

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen.

A lot of time and effort goes into making resources like these
