Simple to use for teachers, easy to set tasks for class/group/individual pupils for use in class and at home.
How well does it match the curriculum?
Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected
Clear lesson plans for teachers that show progression and sequencing for each year group. Links to resources and activities on the website.
How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?
Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented
Inclusive content, accessible for EAL learners
How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?
For KS2 differentiation for children with poor understanding could be better.
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so
There is a range of activities for pupils across year groups. Pupil feedback is they love using Purple Mash.
How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?
Well: We use it for monitoring individual pupil progress.
Assessment and analysis tool for class teachers - gives instant feedback for individual pupils during lessons.
How well does it support planning?
Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes
Planning is mapped, sequenced and progressive.
How well does it support home use / independent learning?
Brilliantly: We’d have very few reservations about using this extensively to support home learning
Children can log in at home and complete assigned tasks
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen
