Review rating:
One of the best Art/DT schemes I have used in my 15 years of teaching. Not only does it provide children with unique opportunities and activities but it also provides teachers with confidence to deliver the lessons successfully.
How well does it match the curriculum?
Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected
All content is of high quality including support videos for teachers and pupils. Challenges/Support/Extension opportunities are provided for every lesson at an age-appropriate level.
How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?
Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented
The support activities cater for all children and the same with the challenges.
How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?
Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils
Worksheets provided are differentiated - some have annotations which support children who find the learning challenging.
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so
The DT projects that my class have taken part in have not only been successful but also engaging. We have designed our own pneumatic toys, static electricity games and will be sewin our own pillows next month. The children are really motivated by the activites. It's great that there is a choice of units which allows all years groups (i.e. Year 3 & 4) to choose different activities. It would be great if there were more pupil videos that address the children. At times I've had to mute the teacher video to show the children step by step.
How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?
Well: We could (or do) use it for monitoring individual pupil progress
It would be great if there were more pupil self-assessments that they fill out at the end of the lesson or unit and then followed by the teacher assessment. This could be online or on paper.
How well does it support planning?
Well: It’s fairly self-contained and can be used with minimal preparation
It's brilliant. The only hassle, which you would find with any other scheme, is sourcing out the materials. We do this every half term so that the materials arrive on time before the lessons the following half term.
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Brilliantly: It’s possibly the best value for money of any similar resources I’ve seen. We are happy with the cost and quality.
