Review rating:
How well does it match the curriculum?
Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected
We are getting better coverage across the school now that we have the structure provided by Kapow
How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?
Reasonably: There is some representation of minorities and no real stereotyping
There is nothing obviously highlighted in the curriculum but we do look at a range of artists.
How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?
Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils
It provides guidance for teachers on how to support and extend although the extension activities can be too time consuming as you need to teach additional skills rather than being able to deepen the skills you are teaching the rest of the class
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so
Children have been really excited by the projects and like seeing the examples in their pupil videos.
How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?
Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful
They have some assessment type statements but doesn’t really give you guidance on what that might look like and art is quite subjective.
How well does it support planning?
Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes
Easy to follow plans with videos for teachers and pupils.
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen. We have not used an art scheme before this but this has suited us well.
