Don’t have to be musical for most of it but composition tricky in higher modules
How well does it match the curriculum?
Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected
Has the basic components required to teach music
How well does it support your school’s inclusion/diversity/equal opportunities policy?
Well: The content is inclusive and sensitively presented
Covers range of time periods and cultures
How well does it support differentiation for the full range of the classes you use it with?
Reasonably: Lacks support and extension.
Some choice of activity but whole class have to do the same one
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so
Most engaged although can get a bit repetitive
How well supported is it by accompanying formative assessments?
Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful
No real assessment included
How well does it support planning?
Well: It’s fairly self-contained and can be used with minimal preparation
Well supported and if necessary can be used by a non-specialist and lesson is planned and structured
How well does it support home use / independent learning?
Badly: It’s not really suitable for home use or independent learning
It’s mostly whole class
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Reasonably: It represents about the same value for money as similar resources I’ve seen
Expensive but covers a lot
