We are very pleased with our Purple Mash subscription

How well does it match the curriculum?

Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected

Great tool to support in teaching coding especially for less confident teachers. Enjoyable and clear for pupils who probably pick it up faster than their teachers anyway. Great for home use too during lockdowns. Also super cross curricular tool with assessment opportunities.

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Brilliantly: There is a wide enough range of resources to provide a good range of options for all pupils

Haven’t come across a situation where a child or group where missing out. It is easy to adapt to all pupils we teach.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

Allows them to pick up the expectations and run with it. Engaging set up. Clear for teachers and therefore their confidence has a positive knock on effect on their classes.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Well: We could (or do) use it for monitoring individual pupil progress

Has a comprehensive assessment tool for computing - emerging, expected and exceeding. Easy to use.

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

All planning is done. Very comprehensive and supportive for the less confident or experienced teacher.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Brilliantly: We’d have very few reservations about using this extensively to support home learning

It allowed children to access the computing curriculum as well as other subjects with ease without parents having to give much support.

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Brilliantly: It’s possibly the best value for money of any similar resources I’ve seen

We renew our subscription with Purple Mash every year. Good value for what it offers. Supports staff well being and of course a good learning tool.
