How well does it match the curriculum?

Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected

Lots of different activities to meet the curriculum in computing and science. It can be difficult to navigate and find the resources though.

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Reasonably: Essentially there’s enough for most pupils but there isn’t enough support, extension or challenge

They could include support or challenge suggested activities alongside the normal suggested task. They are quite good at including a range of functions in each activity though which can be used to address the full range of our pupils.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

They love going onto Purple Mash. I would like to see a range of suggested activities to meet specific areas of the curriculum in a range of subject areas.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful

There are none that I have found

How well does it support planning?

Reasonably: Mostly we can use it without an unreasonable amount of effort or additional resource requirement

I generally have to look at the different activities and choose one that I think fits with my learning outcome. They do not provide much in the way of planning

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

We used it during lockdown for some Science and Computing activities

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen

I'm not actually sure how much Purple Mash costs but we use it a lot and as we continue to have it as a school it must be worthwhile paying what is costs.
