How well does it match the curriculum?
Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected
Within the computing planning there is a very clear progression of skills which spans across both key stages. A weakness would be that the extensions are sometimes lacking.
How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?
Reasonably: Essentially there’s enough for most pupils but there isn’t enough support, extension or challenge. There isn’t quite enough scaffolding or support for children with SEND, this is up to the class teacher to implement.
Clear extensions that challenge higher attainers on all planning could be added. Also ideas for scaffolding and support which can be given to lower attainers and pupils with SEND needs.
How well does it engage and motivate pupils?
Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so
The children love the hands on approach in Kapow, even if they are not using the computers there are still practical elements such as the rocket ships in year 1
How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?
Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful
This is the area I’m least confident with, it relies on teachers using their own judgement
How well does it support planning?
Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes
All plans are really accessible for staff, presentations are already created, resources are there ready to print. There is a clear and concise list of what you will need for that lesson.
How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?
Reasonably: It represents about the same value for money as similar resources I’ve seen
