How well does it match the curriculum?

Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected

Strengths are that it links with Phonics learning at homeWeakness is that it doesn’t use VCOP which is our main teaching focus for writing

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils

Could be more resources at Early level to link with early writing. Also activities that use VCOP from The Big Write Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation. More links with reading - themed to the Biff and Chip books from ORT reading scheme

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Reasonably: We can’t use it too often or for too long

Like the links with learning. Would be good to have it more competitive for children like Sumdog with competitions, ‘coins’ for playing, changeable avatars.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Badly: There isn’t any / enough formative assessment or what there is, isn’t very useful

None

How well does it support planning?

Reasonably: Mostly we can use it without an unreasonable amount of effort or additional resource requirement

I link with my class planning reasonably well. It would be good to use with The Big Write resources and ORT reading.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

Children have home access

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Reasonably: It represents about the same value for money as similar resources I’ve seen

Could be more competitive to make it more user friendly. Children are not choosing to do this as extra support at home whether they are choosing Sumdog for Numeracy at home

Would you recommend it to a colleague in a similar school to yours? 7/11
