The course considers the background, the implications, the requirements and the practices that are needed for the ECM agenda to work in schools and relevant settings. It shows the main features of provision, and how this may impact on the outcomes for children. It also seeks to identify ways to monitor provision and outcomes and the implications for inspection. Learners will raise their awareness of the implications of the ECM agenda and fill gaps in their knowledge about the implementation in practice. They will gain several simple ways of checking their setting/school’s provision and monitoring outcomes in recognition of the role of inspection.
